These are the hashtags one sees on Twitter these days: racist ones like #ChineseVirus19, ones addressed to the authorities like #IndiaawaitsCovidaid and others like #Lockdown21 where people share their experiences. Cricketer Shreyas Iyer decided to do something a little different and for a while we had #AskShreyas trending.
People were invited to use the #AskShreyas hashtag to get questions answered by cricketer.
People wanted to know about the cricketer’s heroes and his answer was along predictable lines: Sachin Tendulkar, Kevin Pietersen, A B de Villiers, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. He also added: Ricky Ponting.
Ricky Ponting is currently the coach for the Delhi Capitals – the IPL team captained by Iyer. He had fulsome praise for his team coach.
Iyer has not yet played test cricket for India and he replied to this by saying that he was eager to ‘represent my country in whites also’.
His answer was Zaheer Khan.
When asked about his musical preferences, Iyer said that he liked to listen to hip-hop while working out, danced to pop music and said that he loved R&B.
He is a Mumbai boy and loves his city’s culture, heritage and particularly loves the street food.
This guy seems to be a dedicated coffee lover.
Apparently home cooked mutton biryani is his fave meal – a man after my heart!
The 93 he made against KKR when he became captain is his most memorable innings so far.
Jemimah Rodrigues is fearless and she has self-belief – which makes her Iyer’s favourite.
His music, he answered.
What is the story behind this pic --- a question not answered yet, it would seem.
When BCCI #AskedShreyas Iyer if he had a message for everyone, this is what he said.
