It is a veritable smorgasbord of entertainment on offer at all times now – I don’t know about you, but I find it all confusing and intimidating. Sort of so much to watch and so little time – all that FOMO! And then there are new releases to add to the ever-lengthening list of things to watch. Here’s what you can watch this October on the major streaming platforms:
This much-loved romcom series had premiered through YouTube in 2016 and was later picked up by Netflix. After three seasons of the ups and downs of Kavya (Mithila Palkar) and Dhruv’s (Dhruv Sehgal) relationship, the series winds down to the fourth and final season this October. The couple’s live-in relationship, time apart and everyday upheavals come to us on Netflix for its fourth and final series.
This is one of those heist romcoms – a bunch of people with very specific skill sets and personal quirks coming together for a big burglary. Not exactly an original concept, but his Netflix film produced by Deborah Snyder and Zack Snyder seems like fun. This film is the prequel to the film Army of the Dead which is a zombie heist film.
The movie stars Sunny Kaushal, Radhika Madan, Mohit Raina and Diana Penty and is availnale on Disney+ Hotstar. The movie is about obsessive love and the trials and tribulations that the obsessed lover undergoes to win the love of a woman. It’s supposed to be passion, but it seems like stalking – may be worth the watch if one likes that sort of thing.
This movie is on Zee 5 on 15 October. It stars Taapsee Pannu as an athlete who is disgraced when she tests positive for doping. The film also stars Priyanshu Painyuli and Abhishek Banerjee. This is the story of a village girl who is gunning for the big time but is hamstrung by the exploitation that female athletes face in the name of gender testing.
This Amazon Prime film has Vicky Kaushal in the title role. This is the story of Sardar Udham Singh, best known for going to London to assassinate Michael O’Dwyer to avenge the Jallianwala Bagh massacre of Amritsar. This is the story of a wound that remained unhealed for 21 years, about the single-minded pursuit of a goal. The film is directed by Shoojit Sircar and will release on 16 October on Amazon Prime Video.
All nine seasons and 180 episodes of this show are now on Netflix. The fact is that I have never watched Seinfeld in spite of the series having aired on TV many times over the years. I now aim to rectify that situation by watching the show that is largely considered to be the greatest and most influential sitcom of all time. So that is the mixed bag of new titles available for streaming on the major platforms this month – and one old classic in case anyone missed it the first hundred times.
