What Is #HalfFaceTwitter? It’s Different Strokes for Different Folks

It seems that anything can become a Twitter trend. Then again if there is something that calls out to the innate narcissism of the tweeple and requires them to put up their own pictures, that trend quickly becomes viral. #HalfFaceTwitter really caught on – the trend that inspired people to interpret the term ‘half face’ in various different ways.

#HalfFaceTwitter

The guy who did it before everyone else. This villain from the Batman films literally has only half a face – this is one quite gruesome interpretation of the half face trend.

The trend caught on

Cool, thought the tweeple – all we need to do is post flattering pictures of half our faces – easy peasy!

Silly trend?

Undoubtedly silly! But popular? Also undoubtedly!

Some didn’t like it

What about the other half of the face, they said.

Why?

Full face or nothing, says this tweet.

Half and half

Half of one, half of the other – Shehnaaz Gill and Sidharth Shukla of Bigg Boss 13 – this couple from the popular reality TV show has long obsessed social media.

This definitely counts

In fact, this is a real-life trend for most of us right now.

And this?

It may not be a human face, but it is a face nevertheless.

Bored?

Some did it because they were bored, they said.

Antidote to boredom

People found different ways to create the #HalfFaceTwitter trend.

Why not!

Cute babies are always a hit; no matter what.

Half book

This is half a face – along with the declaration that one is reading the popular John Green novel Turtles All the Way Down.

The political comment

This tweet seems to refer to the pliant media that toes the official line more often than not; amplifies what the government wants amplifies and ignores facts that the government wants to obfuscate.

Other halves

The tweet underlines the eternal struggle between the haves and the have-nots – how about half of our society lives in moderate to extreme poverty.

Half of 10

Raavan was believed to have had ten heads (a metaphor for his learning and wisdom). Half of ten is five – still too many heads!

Some were having fun making memes

Rather than posting pictures of half their faces, some of the tweeple were having more fun creating memes about the #HalfFaceTwitter trend.
