Remember Alia-Varun's pairing in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya? When the movie was released back in 2014, this pair was much adored by the audience! And now, they're back with "Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya", the sequel to Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya. If reports are to go by, the film is based on the Indian dowry system which is very much prevalent in India.
According to a source, "The film deals with the dowry issues in North India, and Alia and her older sister are the victims of the dowry system in the film. Varun is likely to play the role of a small town guy from Kanpur."
Varun and Alia will be back, recreating the same magic that we saw in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya. While the first installment of the Dulhaniya franchise took a romantic way, the second one will take a social turn, and revolve around the theme of the Dowry system, particularly prevalent in North India.
We've already had recent movies, Dawat-e-Ishq and Dolly-ki-Dolly featuring Parineeti and Sonam respectively, giving a strong message against dowry system. Let's wait for this one to bring a fresh concept ahead of us.
Directed by Shashank Khaitan, the Dharma Productions venture has completed its first schedule of shooting in Kota, Rajasthan. Thanks to social media platforms, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, that Varun and Alia can keep their fans happy and posted with the buzzing updates from the movie!
