Friends was perhaps the most popular sitcom ever and it is a testament to its popularity that 25 years later people are still demonstrating their love for it. There are a lot of fans of Friends in the UAE as well as this amazing laser display show on the Burj Khalifa seems to indicate.
People gathered at the Dubai Fountain to witness the tribute to their fave show being beamed on to the world’s tallest building.
Many thought that it was kind of fitting that one of the most beloved ever TV shows received a tribute at the world’s tallest building.
The series wound its way through lots of relationships, life problems, job issues and more. However, ultimately it was about the concept that one's friends are the family that one chooses – one of the reasons why Friends remains one of the most beloved series of all times.
This was the show that cheered. The show made us laugh, cry and feel a range of emotions along with the six friends Monica, Rachel, Phoebe, Chandler, Ross And Joey. Things went wrong but then they made it right and we all felt better about it.
The Burj and the Dubai Fountains were where Friends fans congregated to show their support for their fave sitcom.
Those who love the show also loved the idea of the Burj tribute.
The sound and light show featured the couch, the fountain, phoebe's guitar, Monika's turkey, cups of coffee and so many other iconic bits of friends – to the tune of the beloved title track of the series. You can hear the sound of Joey and Phoebe’s voices and see all the people who turned up to watch the unique tribute.
It was a spectacular show as this video shows. Many of those congregated there were sharing their videos of the event. It was spectacular indeed – and Friends fans certainly thought so.
