To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before – Is this Netflix Film Worth Your Time?

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before seems to be an allusion to the old Willie Nelson song (To All the Girls I’ve Loved Before) but it seems to have no connection with the song. This is the film released on Netflix that everyone is talking about right now; a rom-com based on a novel of the same name. Viewers and netizens are recommending this movie. Check out all the buzz and decide whether it’s worth your time:

Based on the book

It is a book by Jenny Han; described as a young adult romance novel published in 2014. The book is based on the author's own habit of writing long love letters to all her crushes as a teenager. The sequel to the novel was the 2015 book P.S. I Still Love You. The movie is based on the book.

The movie has evoked very positive responses

The female lead of the film Lana Condor, received a lot of love on Twitter and elsewhere and responded in kind.

Quintessential rom-com?

By all accounts, it’s a sweet, feel-good movie about young love, the confusion and the insecurities of navigating all of the emotional turmoil of it.

This conversation

Parents care and they want to do what is best for their kids. In the process, things can get awkward; very awkward as this exchange from the movie depicts. The movie seems relatable at several levels including the widower dad who wants to do the best he can for his kids.

Fun movie

It’s all about young people and being carefree and having fun and first experiences and so on. It is funny and fun, say viewers.

Leaves you with a smile on your face

It is a movie not just for teens but everyone who was ever a teen (or everyone who remembers their youth at any rate). It is a light hearted, uncomplicated movie that leaves one feeling upbeat and happy. What's not to like!

The ideal boyfriend

Everyone seems to be crushing on the character of Peter Kavinsky, played by Noah Centineo. This is the ideal boyfriend, apparently and every young girl seems to crave a Peter in their life as well.
