The War Teaser Is Here – So Are the Memes

First a confession – when I watched Hrithik Roshan’s ultra-de-glam look in Super 30, I thought the actor known as Bollywood’s Adonis had completely lost his looks. I was wrong. It is a credit to Roshan that he abandoned vanity sufficiently and lent himself to his role to the extent that sacrificed his USP – his good looks. Kudos to him. We now see him in the teaser trailer of War where he reembraces his gorgeousness. Check out the teaser starring Tiger Shroff, Vaani Kapoor, bikes, stunts and lots of action.

War teaser trailer

Opening shot: exotic foreign locale and we get right away the sort of good looking, slick action thriller this promises to be. Cut to fancy bikes which proceed along a stunning coastal mountain road; cut to an exceedingly fetching Roshan and then to Tiger Shroff vaulting into the frame with customary athleticism. Then more bikes, a lissome Vaani Kapoor, fights, chases and some more fights. The end.

Return of the Greek God

This time we see him with some age appropriate and highly becoming gray in his hair. Works.

Same same!

Both Roshan and Shroff promise characters that are chiselled, tough, lean, mean fighting machines. They also manage to look rather similar.

Finding fault

The tweeple miss nothing. See?

They didn’t miss this either

…The fact that the female ‘lead’ in the film will be mainly decorative (if that bikini is anything to go by) and incidental to the movie (previous action movie have shown us as much).

People loved the teaser but…

War is directed by Siddharth Anand, produced by Aditya Chopra, written by Abbas Tyrewala. Some are concerned that this movie may turn out like a previous action-thriller starring Roshan, Bang Bang.

The memes started

The difference between the way Roshan looked in his last film Special 30 versus his look in War is so stark that the memes practically created themselves.

This was an obvious one

Ministers in India never again show the kind of humility that they do before an election.

Hostel v hostel

According to this commentator, guys acquire a certain swagger or टशन when outside the girl’s hostel; qualities that are entirely absent in their own.

Exams v results

Because self-delusion!

Relatable

We've all experienced that rich-at-the-beginning-of-the-month versus poor-at-the-end-of-the-month feeling, haven’t we?

Even more relatable

None of us look good in ID pictures – DL, passport, Aadhaar… and we ensure that we look way better in our DP than we do in real life. Ergo, existential mismatch!

Also relatable

The clothes on the tall, svelte, perfectly proportioned model look perfect on the product page of the online store. On us, not so much.

Releasing on 2nd October

War releases on Gandhi Jayanti. The irony of an action movie named ‘war’ releasing the birthday of the man synonymous with nonviolence, was not lost on the tweeple.
