Now that the 4th episode of last season of Game of Thrones aired, here is an update of the how the story has developed. Every strand of the story is now coming to its culmination. With just two episodes now left to be aired, the story is hurtling towards a final resolution of the central conflicts. There is also a Starbucks coffee cup everyone is talking about.
After not covering himself with glory in the battle, Samwell Tarly is not going to be a part of the big battle either.
Tormud Giantsbane is also leaving; headed back north – he is a wildling, remember?
And Jon’s dire wolf Ghost is being sent north with Tormund; apparently because he needs the space.
The big secret – until the last episode was that of the reality of Job Snow's birth. Well that isn’t much of a secret now. Though Daenerys begs Jon not to tell… Jon, well he tells.
It is a depleted army that sails southward under the leadership of Daenerys. However, there is an ambush. One of the magnificent dragons is attacked by a new potent weapon and Rheagal plunges to a watery grave.
In the battle, many ships are lost and Missandei is captured and used as a bargaining chip; only to later be executed.
But it’s funny. Admit it!
She lost her best friend – two actually. She learned a secret that could potentially take away her right to the throne as well as the love of her life. She lost another of her ‘children’. Not a happy time for her.
…She had to listen to others waxing eloquent about Jon's heroism and how he would make a splendid king.
Dire wolf or dragon? Some fans surmise that the CGI budget was blown on the dragons and there was little left over for the canine.
What will be Sansa’s title? Who has the best claim to the throne? Can there be two queens? Can there be a king and a queen?
Gendry proposes, Arya disposes. Jamie Lannister cannot resist the fatal lure of his sister.
Some fans feel that things are happening too quickly and the later seasons of the series are not as well made as previous ones.
During the celebration, in one scene fans spotted a Starbucks cup. They checked. It really was there!
