Game of Thrones fans are agog. The eighth and final season is set to release on 15th April 2019 and there is plenty of buzz about it on TV and social media. The official promo of Game of Thrones season 8 launched on 1 April, Arya Stark came on a chat show and supposedly dropped a spoiler and all the characters came on the red carpet for the show premier.

The official promo

“We must fight together. Or die,” says Tyrion Lannister somberly. “Our enemy doesn’t die, doesn’t stop. They're coming.” It reminds of us of what’s in store.

Spoiler?

Maisie Williams, aka Arya Stark appeared on Jimmy Fallon and seemed to give away a major spoiler.

The premier

The first episode of GoT Season 8 premiered at red carpet event at the Radio City Music Hall New York City.

The Red Carpet

The premier was followed by a fire-themed party at the Ziegfeld Ballroom.

The fans were out in force

Thronging the venue were fans surrounding the red carpet. They all kept up the vigil until it was all over and everyone had left.

Also

At the venue was a 35-foot replica of the fabled Iron Throne. As to why the premier was 10 days before the actual launch of season eight – many had this question but no answers forthcoming.

The fire and ice theme

With a twist.

Star of the red carpet

Brienne of Tarth, one of the uncharacteristically morally upright characters of the series is played by aka Gwendoline Christie. Her Iris Van Herpen gown, in particular, received a lot of attention.

Favourite… deaths?

For some reasons they asked all the actors this question: which was your favourite death in the series? That is really macabre until you recall how violent, horrifying and macabre much of the GoT story has been so far.

Wonder about the special effects?

The special effects are spectacular of course. This gives you some idea of how it all comes together to create the illusions that we see on the screen.

These impressions

Here are some of the popular characters and their impressions. This will remind you of who’s who and what went before we arrived at the final season of Game of Thrones. Fair warning though – there's a lot of swearing in there… but then you already know this if you’ve watched the show.
