I think everyone has a favourite Batman – Val Kilmer, Michael Keaton, George Clooney, Ben Affleck… for some it is the latest Batman, Robert Pattison. The much-awaited The Batman starring Pattison in the role for the first time, was released in theatres today. Check out the movie trailer as well as some of the reviews and reactions to The Batman:
Apart from Pattison in the title role, the film stars Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle or Catwoman, Paul Dano as Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon and others.
The film is out in theatres in India now – from 4 March 2022.
There have been many versions of the Batman, and Pattison had some big boots to fill, which he apparently does do.
It is a sombre, dark character and Pattison essays the role deftly and believably, say the reviews
Fans of Pattison’s previous roles are less pleased with his angry, vengeful character in this film.
He is completely transformed, to the point of being unrecognizable as Oswald "Oz" Cobblepot or the Penguin in the film.
Well, Batman story has never been a joyous one – dark is pretty much par for the course for pretty much every Batman film ever.
Witticism and one liners are not what one expects from a Batman film after all.
In an interview with The Guardian, Pattison had joked that if this Batman film bombs he would turn to art-house porn. That prophecy doesn’t seem likely to come true. The film has had good openings all over.
Christian Bale played Batman in the 2008 film The Dark Knight – widely thought of as the best Batman movie.
Many of the reviews agree.
There are those who didn’t like the film – but didn’t say why.
Some believe it is Marvel fans who didn’t like the film; which accounts for the bad reviews on Rotten Tomatoes etc.
There aren't too many negative reviews for The Batman – it seems like a great viewing option for this weekend.
