Undoubtedly, it leaves an indelible impression on us while influencing our lives. Being the mirror of the society, we can actually relate to what is being presented on the celluloid. 1. A Wednesday

A story of a case that was never filed but still haunts the memories of a retiring police man. A film, so powerful yet so subtle, so ferocious yet so graceful, 'A Wednesday' is a film about the eternal hate towards terrorism and an unparallaleled love for the nation and its people. 

2. Rang De Basanti

Rang De Basanti is a story of six young Indians who set out to help a foreigner with filming a documentary on the lives of extremist freedom fighters. The patriotic fire in their hearts and the twisted events in their personal lives force them to do something that influences the entire nation to follow their footsteps!

3. Anand

Anand is a story of a terminally ill man (Anand), narrated by his best friend (Amitabh Bachchan) who wants to live every bit of his life happily before dying. 

4. Swadesh

A film that might have touched the hearts of billions of Diaspora population, 'Swadesh' is a powerful film about a scientist who comes to his village to take his Nanny back with him and ultimately finds his roots to the place. Ultimately, he returns to where he belongs.

5. Water

A love story of a widow and a Brahmin set in the holy land of Varanasi, 'Water' is only one of the first few movies in Indian cinema that had tried to debunk the sterotypical thought of orthodox Indian society. 

6. Veer-Zaara

Veer-Zara is a classic love story of a Pakistani girl, Zara Hayat Khan and an Indian liutenant, Veer Pratap Singh. While he spends his life in a Pakistan jail only to protect her honour, she leaves everything behind upon learning him to be dead and comes to his village to live his dream!

7. Taare Zameen Par

A story of a dyslexic student, who upon meeting an ideal teacher is able to explore his true identity. The film brought awareness of this medical impairment.
