One of the questions that actor-director-musician Farhan Akhtar most often has to answer is apparently this one: when are you making Don 3? There are several reports that seem to suggest that the third part of the Shah Rukh Khan starrer film series, Don is now taking shape. There are unconfirmed reports about Don 3 going to floors in 2019 with a 2020 release; even that Akhtar himself will be playing the part of a policeman in the film. There are also reports that the film will be partly shot in Dubai. Is this fact or fiction?
Farhan Akhtar himself has denied that he is in the process of making Don 3 with SRK or at all. However, this tweet by a trade analyst sparked rumours about the film; more particularly about it being set and shot in the Middle East.
Shah Rukh Khan has been a part of several films shot in the UAE; notably Happy New Year and Raees. The superstar has often visited the UAE for promotions of his films; looking to the popularity of Bollywood films as well as his own huge following in the area.
SRK has long been the brand ambassador for Dubai and considers the city his home away from home. He has been a part of the #BeMyGuest campaign for Dubai tourism.
In this film we see more of some of the most fave spots in SRK’s fave city: things to do, places to visit, adventure sport, the cuisine, and more. He invites visitors to “be my guest” in Dubai.
SRK has always enjoyed filming in the UAE. The facilities available for filmmakers here, the locations, tech support and backing from the authorities makes it easy to shoot here, he says.
It seems that this is an unfounded rumour. There is no confirmation that there is to be a Don 3 at all; much less that it will star SRK in the title role or Farhan Akhtar as a cop. The only source of the rumour appears to be one solitary tweet by a trade analyst which has received no confirmation from any quarter. So SRK fans as well as Don fans will just have to be disappointed; and wait for some actual confirmation about Don 3 being shot in Dubai or anywhere at all!
