I have always maintained that Shah Rukh Khan’s real talent is his business brain; his acting skills are secondary. He of the liquid eyes and the uniquely furrowed brow may send a billion hearts aflutter, but the man who is India’s longest surviving heartthrob has many other claims to fame. He has his own production company, owns an IPL team, corners the market on the top celeb endorsements and now is going to launch an OTT platform.
SRK tweeted this from his own handle: something is going to happen in the world of OTT (Over The Top) streaming platforms.
This to be a new platform called SRK+. After the Aryan Khan imbroglio, SRK had not been much in the news; now he is back with this big announcement.
SRK will be collaborating with filmmaker, writer, producer Anurag Kashyap. The independent filmmaker is famous for his Gangs of Wasseypur movies, which are thought to have spawned a new genre of content in Indian cinema/OTT. Kashyap also made the acclaimed The Lunchbox, Shahid, Mukkabaaz, Manmarziyaan and other films and the series Sacred Games.
Perhaps the homegrown brand will give competition to other established players in the market.

SRK is known for his work ethic and his first rate business acumen.
He may have started out as an outsider, but he now commands the most respect and has the most clout in the Hindi film industry. If any Bollywood actor could have thought of launching their own OTT platform, it would be him.
Being in the entertainment industry for so long, SRK probably has a good idea of what sells and what people want.
Some are preparing to cancel all their other OTT subscriptions if SRK+ launches.
SRK is the king of endorsements among other things – would this not count as a conflict of interest if he’s launching one OTT platform and endorsing another that is in direct competition?
They are puzzled about the upcoming platform because very little is known so far about its launch, what content or the revenue model it will have etc.
Actor Ajay Devgn made this tongue in cheek post on Twitter about his film Rudra. It will be interesting to see how many top Bollywood celebs and their movies find their way to the SRK+ platform – as and when it launches.
