You know when they say “you have to love yourself first”. Well, it’s true. In order to have a happy, healthy, socially thriving and fulfilling life, it is important to apply the saying to your life ASAP!

The goodness of your health is dependent on you!

If you keep pushing yourself to your limits, be it working for long working hours, pulling all-nighters for an exam or stressing out about that one presentation, your body will eventually put itself first even if you don’t. So, develop a routine where you relax for at least an hour every day. This can be in the form of yoga, mild exercise, meditation or simply a long walk. Even a long bubble bath will work wonders!

Your romantic life will liven up.

Only and only when you are completely happy with yourself can you begin to make your partner happy. Or be happy together. Usually, in a relationship, there’s a lot of effort that is put in, but sometimes one partner ends up giving up more for the sake of the relationship. To prevent this, it is necessary that you put yourself first every now and then and do not let the relationship become the only priority.

Just like your romantic life, your relationship with your friends and family will prosper and take a turn for the better too!

Everything in life including friendships have their ups and downs. But if you are happy from within, you will be able to manage your friendships better.

Nobody likes a pushover!

It is important to put your needs first every now and then instead of just going along with what everyone wants. Learn to say “No” when you don’t want to do something. Your friends want to go out drinking but you just want to sit at home with your favourite book and a steaming cup of joe? Choose the latter.

You’ll lead a happier life.

Path to bliss

When you give time to yourself, gradually, you will be in a better mood, feel rejuvenated and will wake up every day with a big smile on your face.

Putting yourself first does not mean that you are disregarding everyone else.

It is okay to put others first sometimes, but not always. Making a habit out of pushing back your own needs will only make you spiteful.

You have to become your own hero at the end of the day.

Nobody else can save you if you do not try to save yourself. How does that popular saying go? “God helps those who help themselves.”

In order to love someone else, you’ll have to love yourself first.

You’ll look AND feel better.

Take time out for that much-needed spa visit, catch up on your sleep and start feeding your body with delicious and healthy food. Love and pamper yourself. You’ll be able to feel yourself glowing – inside and out.

You will have lesser bad days.

Yes, that is right. When you start taking out time for yourself every day, you will gradually become comfortable with your own self; you will have happy, happy days and life will seem a whole lot better!
