Really Weird Reasons People Get Famous On TikTok

With the ever-increasing bombardment of content and the ever-shrinking attention spans of net users, a phenomenon such as TikTok was, perhaps a natural outcome. People who do nothing but eat chicken, do some reasonably simple dance steps, lip-synch, offer inane advice, become so hugely popular that one has to wonder about human sanity in general. Here are some TikTok personalities and the really weird reasons they became famous:

Being… pretty?

She is pretty in the conventional sense. Apart from that, I am not really sure why she has 38 million TikTok followers – the most of any account on the platform. Her videos are shallow the point of being boring, but clearly her many, many admirers don’t think so.

Doing ‘magic’

Zach King is a TikTok and Vine ‘personality’; he has 32 million followers. He does cute magical stuff – such as pretending to clean the floor with a mop that magically turns into a cute dog.

Really bad shayri, sad jokes

Riyaz an Indian TikToker has gained 28 million followers. Perhaps it is for his impossible looking hair, or perhaps people really like his incredibly lame ‘poetry’ and ‘jokes’. Sample: “aloo ka parantha bana doon?” asks a voice. Our man answers, “nahi main insaan hi theek hoon.” Sigh.

Doing stuff

He is the 8th most followed TikToker with 23M+ followers. He struts, he goes to the gym, makes faces, eats (and also pretends to eat), lip-synchs.

Dancing

Charli D'Amelio has 22+ followers for being cute and likable and doing simple dance moves. Millions of kids across the world copy her dance moves; some post their own versions of her dance moves.

Being a kid?

Not sure why this kid is so famous and why he has 22 million followers. He dances a bit, does silly kid things, does some lip synching. Oh! And he wears earrings. Maybe it’s the earrings?

Lip synching

Since TikTok supplies a huge selection of songs/ dialogues that users can create videos to, lip synching and dancing and emoting is among the top reasons why people become famous.  Nisha Guragain for instance has 21 million followers.

Being silly

Brent Rivera has 19 million followers for being silly and funny and cute. His talent presumably is the ability to conjure up a smile for something as silly as changing clothes repeatedly to get free food samples.

Crying

There are a lot of wounded Romeos on TikTok. They are the men scorned, the hurt, revenge-seeking lothario… just a lot of wailing and crying and contorting of faces.

Just random stuff

This is a guy just being at different places around this yard to the tune of can-can. That is it! I am sure people are conducting studies right now, as to what makes people famous on TikTok. Maybe these studies will shed light on the mystery? Because I don't have a clue.
