People Who Became Meme Worthy in 2019

It is the nature of the beast that the internet – particularly social media – that it catapults people into fame with the suddenness of summer lighting. There are those who never expected to be famous – many who did not deserve it, but who find themselves becoming stars. In 2019 we saw a lot of people who became famous thanks to the internet, sometimes for no reason at all! These people are now so famous that they are meme-worthy.

Ranu Mondal

Ranu Mondal's story is more amazing than the plot of a Hindi film. She used to sing and beg at a railway station. Her video went viral and now she is a playback singer in films. So much has been written and conjectured about her that she is now a bona fide online sensation.

Pakistani Tyrion Lannister

He is a waiter in Pakistan and bears a remarkable resemblance to Peter Dinklage or Tyrion Lannister from GoT  The resemblance is quite astonishing; but it is quite literally his only claim to fame.

The disappointed Pak cricket fan

When the Pakistan cricket team lost their World Cup match to India, there were many disappointed Pak fans. But this guy became the face of those disappointed souls. Some of his lines have become meme fodder in a big way.

Mature bag guy

Mature bag guy went viral for absolutely no reason. This regular guy made a video recommending the purchase of a bag for those who wanted to appear mature in college. Nothing special at all! It was perhaps the sheer ordinariness of the guy that that went viral and promptly became a meme.

Chal nikal guy AKA Hindustani Bhau

This guy became famous for his liberal use of profanity (he is so foul-mouthed that I chose not to attach a video; just a still image). Absolutely no other reason. The man has neither looks nor charm nor any kind of visible intellect but he is famous – he is in so many memes it is hilarious!

Paragliding guy

Remember the paragliding guy? The one who went up, sorely regretted it, cursed himself roundly and begged to come down? Well he is now hugely famous and truly meme worthy.

Farzi Virat Kohli

This guy looks a bit like Kohli. This happy accident and the way that he has groomed himself, altered his mannerisms and walk to look like the cricket star have made him hugely famous. So much so that he got to do a cameo in the Zoya Factor.

Chicken leg pis guy

He eats chicken. He says ‘chicken leg pis’ (or is it chicken leg bis). That is it. That is the whole reason for this TikTok star having 1.9 million followers (up from 1.2 just a couple of weeks ago). It’s like I said, it is impossible to fathom what tickles the fancy of people; what makes a person meme-worthy.
