Remember that song thande thande paani se nahana chahiye (because antakshari!)? Well, that is the only thing that most people remember from the old Sanjeev Kumar, Vidya Sinha, Ranjeeta starrer movie of 1978. The movie about a regular guy’s extramarital dalliances was supposed to be ha-ha funny at the time. More than forty years later, they made Pati Patni aur Woh again; thinking that this story is still ha-ha funny.
The 2019 remake of the 1970s film stars Kartik Aaryan as the ‘poor’ husband, Bhumi Pednekar as the wife and Ananya Panday as the ‘bit on the side’. This, it appears, is the bare bones of the film.
They thought that the trailer was great and that all the actors are well cast. They are looking forward to the movie which will release on 6 December 2019.

A lot of the tweeple were of the view that Ananya Panday seems way too young for the role; as such as miscast.
The other female lead Bhumi Pednekar also appears wasted in the film; her acting talent reduced mostly to glowering and barely speaking in the trailer.
Kartik Aryan however attracts no such criticism of being miscast.
The male lead of the film is known for his previous films where he has played similar characters
In his previous roles as well, he has played misogynistic characters.
Not happening, says Kartik Aryan.
It is sad that the filmmakers felt the need to trivialise a serious issue such as marital rape to get a few cheap laughs, felt a lot of the tweeple.
A shallow, titillating and hugely problematic film such as Pati, Patni aur Woh garnering so much attention had many wondering why really good films don’t manage to do the same.
The movie trailer received a lot of negative reactions for its regressive story, misogynistic content --- many were like, how is a film like this still getting made in 2019.
The fact is that there is a huge audience out there for films that present misogyny and cheating as funny. That is why these films get made. That is why these regressive mindsets are perpetuated.
