Love The Old Dus Bahane Song? Or Do You Prefer #DusBahane 2.0?

The 2005 film Dus may have had its flaws but it had one thing going for it – the song Dus Bahane that madly catchy, timeless floor-filler. Now they’ve co-opted this song for the movie Baaghi 3 and Twitter’s not having it. Mostly the tweeple are like why fix what ain’t broke! The song lyrics also prompted memes - take a look

People loved that old song

Those four dudes with their cool suits and the guns blazing – people have happy memories of a song that was, for its time, iconic. People probably have important memories intertwined with the original song.

And now this

Many liked the new version.

Some were clear

Old = good, new = bad.

‘New’

The composers have added some bits to the new version of the song – probably to justify the ‘new song’ tag.

Poor copy

Many just felt that the new version is a lazy, poor copy.

This observation

That looks like snow…. And some very courageous outfits.

#DusBahane

Are we out of composers and lyricists that we have to keep repurposing old songs, was the question on a lot of minds.

This observation

It isn't just that the old song has been resurrected. Both versions are sung by the same singers (Shaan, KK) and also feature star kids in varying numbers.

Enough

Don’t regurgitate old stuff; work to create fresh and exciting content, said many.

Poor copy?

The fact is that the original is what people fell in love with. No new version will ever match up.

It’s all business

Turns out, T-series published both versions of Dus Bahane. So, whichever version you like/ listen to, T-series continues to make money on both.

Chalta hai

Perhaps it is our chalta hai attitude that accepts the repackaging and the lack of originality.

The lyrics

The lyrics of both songs also inspired a lot of hilarious memes.

I looked at you, you looked at me

…Aur ho gayi mushkil

Happened to all of us

Many times!

This upcoming film

This is in light of Kapil Dev’s recent sartorial choices and 83 – the upcoming film starring Ranveer Singh.

OK or not?

Those who did not grow up with the original #DusBahane are going to be perfectly fine with the DJ puts on Dus Bahane 2.0 at a party. The rest of us are going to be like this…
