The 2005 film Dus may have had its flaws but it had one thing going for it – the song Dus Bahane that madly catchy, timeless floor-filler. Now they’ve co-opted this song for the movie Baaghi 3 and Twitter’s not having it. Mostly the tweeple are like why fix what ain’t broke! The song lyrics also prompted memes - take a look
Those four dudes with their cool suits and the guns blazing – people have happy memories of a song that was, for its time, iconic. People probably have important memories intertwined with the original song.
Many liked the new version.
Old = good, new = bad.
The composers have added some bits to the new version of the song – probably to justify the ‘new song’ tag.
Many just felt that the new version is a lazy, poor copy.
That looks like snow…. And some very courageous outfits.
Are we out of composers and lyricists that we have to keep repurposing old songs, was the question on a lot of minds.
It isn't just that the old song has been resurrected. Both versions are sung by the same singers (Shaan, KK) and also feature star kids in varying numbers.
Don’t regurgitate old stuff; work to create fresh and exciting content, said many.
The fact is that the original is what people fell in love with. No new version will ever match up.
Turns out, T-series published both versions of Dus Bahane. So, whichever version you like/ listen to, T-series continues to make money on both.
Perhaps it is our chalta hai attitude that accepts the repackaging and the lack of originality.
