Long-Awaited Laal Singh Chaddha Trailer Drops – Worth the Wait?

The movie Forrest Gump is a timeless classic. Aamir Khan is known to involve himself in some of the most interesting cinematic projects over the years (if we overlook Thugs of Hindostan). So it goes without saying that film buffs have been looking forward to Aamir Khan-starrer Laal Singh Chaddha for a while. The trailer of the film dropped recently and people are loving it. There are also those who are comparing the remake unfavourably with the original. Check out the Laal Singh Chaddha Trailer and some of the reactions to it:

Laal Singh Chaddha Official Trailer

Starring Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Mona Singh, Akkineni Naga Chaitanya, Negar Khan and others, Laal Singh Chaddha is the official remake of Forrest Gump. The 1994 film starred Tom Hanks among others. The movie will be released in theatres on August 11, 2022.

Some loved it

A lot of people felt that the trailer will go down as a classic and that it makes a fitting tribute to the original movie.

Looking forward to it

The movie appears to be shot on a lavish scale with beautiful locations, and sweeping shots that will look great on the big screen.

Indian version

The movie is an official remake, but is set in India. Obviously, there are significant changes owing to that.

Doing justice

Some commentators are calling the film a ‘copy’ perhaps being unaware of the fact that this is an official remake, while others feel that they can trust Aamir to faithfully recreate a classic.

Ruining a classic?

It is true that Thugs of Hindostan was a disaster – hope that is not going to be the case with this film.

Remake versus copy

With an official remake, the makers of the film are required to take permission and pay royalties to the original filmmaker.

Naga Chaitanya

The presence of prominent Telugu star Naga Chaitanya in the film has created more interest in the film

The mother’s character

Sally Field’s character in the original movie was that of a strong woman; which appears to be recreated ably by Mona Singh.

The childhood friend

Robin Wright played Gump’s childhood friend – who comes into his life at various important points in the film. This is the role Kareena Kapoor Khan will essay in this film as Rupa.

Some are not impressed

Aamir Khan’s expression as a person with intellectual disability is much the same as we saw in PK, where he played an alien and some other films as well.

Consistent

But not in a good way, a lot of the tweeple thought.

Disaster

Some film buffs haven’t like the trailer at all.

Consistently good

On the other hand, Aamir fans feel that Aamir has delivered some very varied films over the years with consistently great performances. They are looking forward to the release of Laal Singh Chadda  in August of this year.
