Korea Festival & The UAE Tour - All You Wanted To Know

As winter draws near, we will witness an uptick in outdoor events in the UAE in general and Dubai and Abu Dhabi in particular. The Korea Festival is one such event that people can enjoy for free while getting a taste of a different culture. UAE tour, the nation’s major bicycling event is another; aimed at attracting international talent and involving more people in an easy, affordable and accessible fitness activity.

2018 will see the 6^th edition of this annual event. This year the festival will feature performances and exhibitions that commemorate the Year of Zayed - the 100th anniversary of the birth of UAE’s founder. The opening night (17^th October) will feature cultural experience booths, media art show and the Remembrance of Zayed Lights in Consonance as well as dance and music performances. There will also be a special art exhibition at the Abu Dhabi Cultural Centre.

K-pop is very popular in the UAE, so it was only to be expected that the festival features this aspect of Korean culture. The National Theatre, Abu Dhabi will feature a mini k pop concert by Wheesung on 24^th October 2018.

From 17^th to 25^th October, there will be an exhibition of craft works from the northern Jeolla province. Traditional Korean medicine and beauty treatments will be showcased in a seminar on 18^th October.

25^th October will be the Day of Jeobuk; featuring dance and music, and also a tasting of the popular Korean dish bidimbap. The 6^th UAE Korean speech contest will take place on 31^st October at the Korean cultural centre. From 7^th to 10^th November Vox Cinema at Yas Mall will be screening various films. The Dubai and Abu Dhabi cycling events have been very popular; attracting talent from all over the world. Now these two events will be merged to become one event and will take the form of the inaugural UAE Tour Event in 2019 which will take place across all seven emirates.

The event will take place from 24th February to 2nd March 2019 and will take place in seven stages including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Umm Al Quwain. Riders will discover new parts of the UAE in the new coast to coast stage, mountain stage and team trail time as part of the competition. The competition will also have a new logo and trophy. The new trophy weighs 5.5kg and 24kt gold-plated. The heptagonal shape represents the 7 Emirates and bears the names of previous winners of both the Dubai and Abu Dhabi Tours
