Kangana Ranaut’s Tejas, Guilty Trailer & Other Interesting Upcoming Films

She may be among the most combative off-screen personalities of Bollywood; thriving on controversy, but whatever Kangana Ranaut does on-screen is always worthy of attention. The first look of the 2021 film Tejas was released recently; where she will play an IAF pilot: In addition there are several other upcoming films that sound interesting: Kamyaab, Guilty, Gunjan Saxena, Shakuntala Devi, The Girl of the Train, Sooryavanshi, Gulabo Sitabo, Laxxmi Bomb.

Tejas first look

Ranaut appears in what seems to be a G-suit with presumably the Tejas in the background. This is significant because the induction of women as pilots of fighter air aircraft has been a relatively recent phenomenon. It is also significant because Tejas is the indigenously-developed delta wing, multirole light fighter designed by India’s very own HAL. The movie will release in June 2021.

Har Kisse Ke Hisse Kaamyaab trailer

Starring the redoubtable Sanjay Mishra, this is a story about an extra in Hindi films. A man who has appeared in 499 films is looking for his 500th film. The film premiered at the Busan International Film Festival in 2018 and will release in Indian theaters on 6 March 2020.

Guilty trailer

This is a Netflix thriller starring Kiara Advani, Akansha Ranjan, Gurfateh. This one seems to be about some hard-rocking young party people and ‘one night that changed everyone's lives’. There is a rape charge, protestation of innocence, a seeming class divide in the film that releases on 6 March 2020.

Sooryavanshi

This Rohit Shetty movie stars Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif and is the next edition in of Shetty's Police Universe (aka the loose-cannon cop film). After the Singham films and Simmba, we are to have yet another testosterone fueled saga of the cop who is a law unto himself. This one releases on 25 March.

Gulabo Sitabo

This one is described as a family comedy drama. Directed by Shoojit Sircar, it will star Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana. The unusual name derives form a popular folk puppet tradition of Uttar Pradesh; and is said to be a humorous, musical take on everyday struggles of regular folk. The movie releases on 17th April 2020.

Gunjan Saxena

Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl stars Janhvi Kapoor playing an IAF pilot who was one of the first two Indian women in combat. The movie produced by Karan Johar, directed by Sharan Sharma will also star Angad Bedi and Pankaj Tripathi and is slated for release on 24th April 2020.

Shakunatla Devi

This biographical film will follow the story of India’s famous mathematical brain, Shakuntala Devi. Starring Vidya Balan in the title role, this film about the ‘human computer’ is directed and written by Anu Menon and will release on 8th May 2020.

The Girl on the Train

This movie stars Parineeti Chopra as an alcoholic divorcee and promises to be a mystery thriller. Kriti Kulhari plays a British cop in the film about a missing person's investigation. The movie is based on the novel of the same name by Paula Hawkins and is directed by Ribhu Dasgupata.

Laxmmi Bomb

This is a film of the comedy horror genre. Starring Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani, the film will release on 22 May 2020 to coincide with Eid. The film is partly shot in Dubai and even has a song called Burj Khalifa.
