The trailer of upcoming movie Judgementall Hai Kya has excited viewers and reviewers alike. The presence of truly fine actors such as Kangana Ranaut and Rajkumar Rao and an unusual theme promise a highly watchable, fun film. The trailer received high praise from the viewers and Bollywood celebs alike. However, some of those celebs came in for some scolding as well.
The movie hints at a murder mystery and stars Kangana Ranaut, Rajkummar Rao, Amyra Dastur, Jimmy Sheirgill and Hrishitaa Bhatt among others. The movie was earlier titled Mental hai Kya but was later changed since it was seen as being insensitive to those with mental health issues; which is one of the themes of the movie.
The poster was released ahead of the trailer and it seems to hint at a lot more than it reveals.
The movie promises to be different than the run of the mill Bollywood film. The trailer suggests a fresh story with original content.
The trailer has several shots that linger lovingly on Keshav (Rajkumar Rao’s) beefed up biceps. Kangana, who plays Bobby seems obsessed with him; he is portrayed as irresistible to more than one woman. Perhaps in Judgementall Hai Kya we will see a new side of this highly talented and versatile actor.
It promises to be yet another high octane performance from Kangana Ranaut. She is the sort of actor viewers cannot tear their eyes away from, whenever she is on screen.
The trailer has been trending at #1 on YouTube for two days now. It has attracted a combined viewership of well over 20 million across social media. Clearly the trailer has really resonated with viewers.
Actor Varun Dhawan expressed his positive sentiments for the film – for the actors and the writers.
Actress Taapsee Pannu also expressed her appreciation for the film.
Kangana Ranaut’s always-combative sister and manager Rangoli Chandel was angry that the appreciation did not mention the lead actress by name. She also accused Pannu of copying her sister. She fired off another tweet to Varun Dhawan: “Kangana ka bhi naam likh dete sir!! Wo bhi kisi ki bachi hai usne bhi mehnat ki hai !!!” Dhawan quickly replied duly mentioning Ranaut. Though Pannu maintained a studied silence, others came to her defence and Chandel chose to continue a Twitter spat with them.
At the launch of the trailer of Judgementall Hai Kya, Kangana Ranaut was heard saying this. The stance of the undoubtedly talented Ranaut and her sister continues to be combative and needlessly hostile. When Chandel demands that people appreciate her sister by name; this seems to be an almost feudal expectation of obeisance to someone in a position of power. And when Ranaut expresses her contempt for ‘industry wale’ that is rather needlessly unpleasant too.
Actors are not the only people who make the film. There are writers, directors, technicians who probably have more to do with the way a film turns out in the end. As the trailer of Judgementall Hai Kya shows, there is much more to a movie than actors; even those as talented as Kangana Ranaut. The arrogance and antagonism displayed by both, is quite unnecessary and unattractive to say the least.
