Recently I had this conversation with college friends over pizza and pasta vs chole bhature. Given my preference of the Indian snack, they just called me LS. But, really, what’s LS in loving snacks that can beat our western counterparts any given day? Okay, people don’t want to admit, but Indian snacks are always on everybody’s favourite list. Doing a quick poll made me come out as a winner. Indian food rocks and these our college street favourites.

Poori Halwa

Though Poori Halwa can be made quite easily at home, we love it when we get it as Prasad at the Gurudwara. The soft halwa made in pure ghee and hot pooris, wow the best taste in this world.

Aloo-tikki

This is an evening delight. Whether you head for your chaat wala for a plate or stuff it into your home made burger, nobody ever refuses a tikki offer.

Vada Pao

If you are not in Mumbai, you wouldn’t really understand the craze for Vada Pao. Simply put, it is a mini burger, but the patty is not grilled but fried vada. The secret to this Mumbaikar favourite is the spicy, tangy flavour that you’ll not get anywhere else.

Kachori

Bikaner, the royal region has added one more mouthwatering snack to the Indian snack world, called Kachori. The renowned Bikaneri kachori and prevalent mirchi bada are the most desired amongst Indians. But you can enjoy the kachori at all times of ways and never really get tired of it.

Samosa and Pakoda

Our ‘Chai’ chums, pokadas and samosas are the snacks which every soul of India loves, we’ll happily choose samosas over a plate of lasagna. So coffee walas, what will you have?
