There are some people who are famous simply for being famous. We are never exactly sure why they are famous, but we do know of them; see them feature in the headlines from time to time. Take Kamaal R Khan for instance – he is famous only for putting his rank misogyny, ignorance and effrontery on display from time to time. Rakhi Sawant is another who manages to make a living out of saying the most idiotic, breathtakingly bizarre things.
…And all kinds of stupid comes out. In this media interaction she rambles on about Tanushree Dutta being a rapist, being a man but also being a lesbian. Assuming a wounded demeanor that would put Nirupa Roy to shame, she rambles on about rave parties and about being innocent and being forced a have a joint and so on.
Some years ago, she claimed to have discovered ‘Jejus’ and frequently brought up Christ in conversation. Her unfortunate propensity for mispronouncing things is something that she is frequently ridiculed for. But the real problem is her penchant for dropping famous names, making tall claims, accusing everyone for everything and projecting a laughably virtuous attitude all the while.
She clearly inhabits some alternative universe in which a C grade TV show is on par with the path breaking, change inducing and hugely well researched program like Satyamev Jayate.
The former porn star has completely reinvented herself and has always come across as a powerful and intelligent woman. Sawant seems to be particularly lacking in these qualities....probably the reason why Sawant seems so obsessed with her!
So she had this solution to prevent suicides. Remove ceiling fans from homes and replace them with A/cs. Apparently ceiling fans are the culprit; removing them will resolve the grim issue of suicide in the country!
She stood for elections form the Mumbai North West parliamentary constituency. She fared predictably disastrously with the grand total of two thousand votes.
Being relevant is too lofty an endeavor. Her only aim in life seems to be to attract attention any way she can. Sawant will do just to prompt a reaction it would seem. From declaring that she is a virgin, to wanting Vidya Balan to star in her biopic, to accusing every one of chitting (cheating); from wanting to donate her breasts to declaring that she would become a porn star!
If she's looking for attention, she clearly has it…. As veteran journalist Shekhar Gupta points out. You know what they say; in showbiz, no publicity is bad publicity. Rakhi Sawant clearly thinks this is true.
