The title Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is itself exceedingly intriguing. This was originally a book that is part of the course at Hogwarts School for Witchcaft and Wizardry. So effectively Harry, Ron and Hermoine had to study this book. Well Hermoine did at least. Now this book is being made into quite an epic movie. Here is one of the trailers for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and everything else you wanted to know about the film.
It goes without saying that the special effects are pretty terrific and in 3D they are going to be even more awesome or unnerving (depending upon your tolerance for the Harry Potter-esque type of cinema).
J K Rowling wrote the book in 2001 under the pseudonym Newt Scamander (who is the protagonist in the film) and is all about the magical creatures in the Harry Potter universe.
The movie is set in 1926 in New York and explores the growing dangers of the world of wizardry and of a fanatical faction of No-Majs (which is supposed to be the American term for Muggles) called the Second Salemers.
Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them is the first in a series of five films. “I've now done the plotting properly, so we're pretty sure it's going to be five movies,” said J K Rowling. She makes her debut as screenwriter for this film.
The supposed writer of the book, Newt Scamander was expelled from Hogworts and he then travels across the US after some fantastic beasts were discovered in his suitcase. The action takes place 70 years before the Harry Potter events.
Katherine Waterson, who plays Scamander’s love-interest, Tina Goldstein in the film will be yet another of the characters to watch out for.
He plays Percival Graves a high-ranking Auror and the Director of Magical Security for MACUSA. He is assigned the job of protecting wizards and of tracking down Newt.
Of course there will be! They will be strange and bizarre and hideous creatures and all the dark and evil forces your heart desires… soon at a theatre near you.
