Apna Time Aayega from Gully Boy is not just madly catchy; it has become an iconic song of its time; inspiring tributes, spin-offs and T-shirts quotes because of its lyrics and the milieu and the sub culture it represents. The song has apparently inspired people well above the age bracket it was aimed at. Ranveer Singh who essayed the title role of Gully Boy, told us about Rap Nani, whose take on the song is unique and ‘boht hard’ (a term of appreciation that has passed into popular lingo now).
It is a song about daring to have dreams and hopes and ambitions and about rising up out of one’s limiting circumstances. It also gave us the now epic line tere bhai jaisa koi hard ich nai hai – hard being the word for good, wonderful, cool, epic – anything you want it to be.

She calls herself Rap-Nani (maternal grandmother) and made her version of Apna Time Aayega. Singh thought Aunty G was #bohthard and shared her video.
A lot of people really liked nani and her style; some thought she was really cute as well. She is clearly quite a with-it grandmother.
She did go off beat a few times but her lyrics make a social comment that resonated with a lot of people.
Zohran Mamdani aka Mr. Cardamom made this rap video featuring his Nani Madhur Jaffrey – erstwhile TV chef and current badass. This Nani swears, gestures rudely and apparently smokes pot as well… enjoy this rap nani who incidentally, is also #bohthard.
