The Storypedia puts together a list of things you can do this weekend in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru to shake off the post festival blues.
1. Tejas – Behold It’s Magic: Delhi/NCR
He is the ultimate illusionist. If you want to be awed by the things you see but your mind tells you it simply can’t be possible then this is the best event for you to go to this weekend. Tejas won the India’s Magic Star competition and is also a National Award winner. His shows are extremely interactive, entertaining with the music and dance acts, breath taking illusions, stunning predictions and enchantments. Show starts at 7 pm, at Kingdom of Dreams, Sector 29, Gurgaon.
2. Dastkar Festival of Lights: Delhi/NCR
If you are ready for the pre-Diwali shopping then this is a festival you will want to attend. The organisers have brought together interesting options for your shopping list and a place where it can be a great outing with family. Wonderfully handcrafted products from different parts of the country. Hand woven textiles, beautifully crafted jewellery and show pieces made out of terracotta and metal. The event is going on till November 2nd at Nature Bazaar, Andheria More, New Delhi.
3. Short and Sweet Delhi Theatre Festival: Delhi/NCR
Short stories converted into stage plays all under 10 minutes. Without the trappings of a multiple act play, this festival which is five years old has something to offer to everyone. Romance, thriller, mystery and comedy. Being held at the India Habitat Centre from October 24 to October 25, the cost of the tickets range from Rs. 250 to Rs. 350.
4. Parikrama – Fashion & Lifestyle Exhibition: Mumbai
The coming together of interesting people from different walks of life who also enjoy a common interest in high street fashion, lifestyle products, jewellery and shopping. Primarily focused at female audiences this is also a good place for male shoppers to get gifting ideas for their special someone. This weekend is the last two days of the exhibition. The venue is Courtyard, High Street Phoenix, Lower Parel Mumbai. Entry is free.
5. One World Many Musics – Celebrating Artistic Plurality: Mumbai
Brought to you by the National Centre of Performing Arts (NCPA) this is the sixth year that the biggest name in fusion music from around the world will come together for a weekend of enchanting sounds that will leave you completely mesmerised. October 24 sees the performance by Indian Ocean who have taken different instruments and fusion music to a whole new level with their albums Khandisa and have lent their style of music to mainstream films such as Peepli Live, Black Friday and Satyagraha. They will perform tonight at 7 pm at the Tata Theatre.
6. Disney’s Beauty and Beast – On Stage: Mumbai
Recreating the magic of Broadway in Mumbai, Disney is bringing the magic of their Academy Award winning Beauty and the Beast to the stage. Brought alive in India by over 100 of the best stage performers here, this performance feature music by Alan Menken ( Little Mermaid, Tangled and Alladin), lavish sets and costumes that will take your breath away. if you love Bella and the Prince who was cursed this is a not-to-be-missed show. Starting 8 pm tonight and tomorrow. The venue is the Dome at NSCI, SVP Stadium, Mumbai. Ticket prices are from Rs. 1000 to Rs. 5000.
7. Swami and Friends by R.K. Narayan: Bengaluru
Based on the first novel by R.K. Narayan to get international fame, and adapted for stage by Manasi Subramaniam, this play recreates the magic of Malgudi for those who love Narayan or those who want to bring Narayan into the lives of their loved ones. The adventures that Swami and his two friends undertake in the fictional yet realistic town of Malgudi created by Narayan and set in pre-independence India will leave you amused and nostalgic for more innocent and simple times. Today is the last day for the play and it will be staged at 7:30 pm at Ranga Shankara, South Bengaluru. Tickets cost Rs. 200 per person.
8. Rolling Frames Film Summit: Bengaluru
Organised by The Rolling Frames Film Society, this is the biggest platform for short films, documentaries, seminars and exhibitions. This summit brings together people from different fields of film making including, Animation, VFX, Clubs and students. Focused on providing learning to those aspiring to be become full length feature film makers this summit is focused at giving them feedback and suggestions for improvement. Being held at the Manpho Convention Centre Grounds in Bengaluru which can hold more than 4000 people the summit began at 9 am this morning. Tickets are priced at Rs. 500 to Rs. 700.
9. The Vagina Monologues: Bengaluru
The award winning play written by Eve Ensler, after she interviewed 200 different women celebrates the indestructible spirit of womanhood that has survived brutalisation, assault and neglect throughout history. Being performed at Chowdiah Memorial Hall in North Bengaluru from 7 pm tonight, the ticket cost ranges from Rs. 300 to Rs. 750.
10. Absolut Presents BLACK & GOLD: Bengaluru
Viren Khanna intends to keep his audience stunned at the Black and Gold. While entry is free to those on the guest list others interested to attend can approach the organisers to find out the price.
