Federer Had This Twitter Conversation about His Bollywood Lookalike

I thought it was just me, but apparently a host of others also think that tennis ace Roger Federer looks like Arbaaz Khan. Bad enough that Khan has to contend with the super success of his own brother Salman, without having to deal with being told that he looks just like someone far more famous than him. Recently Federer asked a question on Twitter and this happened:

Film suggestions

He wanted recommendations for films to watch on his way to Shanghai and wanted to know what Bollywood classic to watch.

This suggestion

3 Idiots is a suggestion that most of us would recommend – hilariously funny, thought-provoking and always eminently watchable.

Timeless

Two films that have become a part of film lore are Sholay and Mughal-e-Azam --- absolute, timeless classics.

Hera Pheri

This suggestion came from a fan that also tweeted a picture of Akshay Kumar with Roger Federer to add some context.

Many suggestions

Some recommended some (presumably) personal favourites such as Pink and Padmaavat as well as many other films.

Some warnings as well

This commentator thought that Federer should perhaps not watch a Bollywood movie in the interests of self-preservation.

This suggestion

This suggestion is actually a useful one since it would resolve the language barrier issue.

For the love of sport

This was also a relevant suggestion for the athlete.

The magnum opus!

If ever there is a movie that encapsulated all the over the top drama and high octane action of Indian cinema and our love for mythology, it is Baahubali. It would be an assault on Federer's senses, but it is still an excellent suggestion nevertheless.

From the Aamir Khan fan

This is actually a useful suggestion since it speaks about some of Bollywood's most highly watchable movies.

Too many!

Some simply listed all their faves, without any context or explanation. Another commentator felt that Federer should never have asked for recommendations. All the many, many suggestions that came his way would confuse rather than guide.

This!

One Twitter user had this suggestion, though we can be fairly certain that this movie sank without a trace right after being made; ergo is unavailable for viewing anywhere.

Good grief!

Clearly, now people were just having a good time offering the worst possible suggestions.

Finally!

This was a suggestion simply waiting to be made. Salman Khan described this movie, Hello Brother as the “most expensive home movie”. This movie is notorious for being so bad it is good!

Many agreed with this suggestion

It was an obvious suggestion; given the almost uncanny likeness between Arbaaz Khan and Roger Federer. Looking at the flurry of suggestions that came his way, Federer likely regretted asking for suggestions from India’s film-mad people. If he goes ahead and actually watches Hello Brother he will be even more regretful.
