Did Kylie Jenner Really Ask For Donations From Her Fans?

If you know about any famous social media influencer, Kylie Jenner is X times that influencer, whoever they are. She is the fourth most followed person on Instagram with 222 million followers (to put that into perspective, the Indian with the most Instagram followers, Virat Kohli recently broke the 100M follower record). Jenner’s net worth is about $900 million and she is the highest-paid celebrity of 2020 according to Forbes. Given these facts, people found her recent actions to be rather questionable:

The Samuel Radua Medical expense fund

Via an Instagram story, Kylie Jenner asked her fans to contribute to the medical expense fund on GoFundMe.com. She herself donated the princely sum of $5000 for her makeup artist’s lifesaving medical expenses.

Embarrassing

People on Twitter obviously had a lot to say about Jenner’s actions. They thought that her ‘appeal’ and the tininess of her contribution were very telling.

Jenner’s closet

This is a picture from Jenner’s own Instagram: a closet full of overpriced designer products that kind of speaks for itself.

And this

Jenner is also known to buy expensive baubles for her little daughter.

$5K contribution

When this is juxtaposed with the contribution made towards lifesaving surgery for someone, the contrast is a little obscene.

Some perspective

Given Jenner’s net worth, defraying Radua’s medical expenses is literally small change for her.

The ‘contribution’

Someone did the math: for someone with a $100K net worth this would be about six dollars to pay the bill in its entirety.

Daily income

The tweeple spoke about how the medical expenses would be a fraction of her daily income.

People were not amused

They weren't amused that Jenner sent out an appeal. They thought she was being quite callous while pretending to care.

The jibes

The makeup artist does a great job, as do the cosmetic surgeons it was pointed out.

Before

She does seem to owe a lot to those ‘artists’ for her transformation.

Some defended her

Samuel Rauda’s Medical Expense Fund is close to its target currently. People pointed out that even if Jenner didn’t personally pay, it was at her urging that people paid; her fans to be precise.

Why?

A lot of people are simply pissed off at Jenner and her whole family.

Not OK

People also pointed out how many wealthy people tend to hire people on contract so that they don’t have to pay employment benefits, medical and so on. All in all, Kylie Jenner did not come off at all positively when she asked her fans to donate money for her makeup artist’s medical bills.
