Deepika Suggests Indian Avenger "Make it happen,” Say Tweeple

As one of India’s biggest film stars, it was only a matter of time before Deepika Padukone featured in the Madame Tussaud wax museum. When that happened, everyone was agog! While that was creating waves on social media, Padukone said something else at the occasion; something that really caught everyone's imagination.

The statue at Madame Tussaud

They generally mess up Indians. They do a much better job with Caucasians; they are much more true to life. However, the people at Madame Tussaud’s have done a pretty good job with Deepika Padukone's statue. It is a good likeness.

Original तो ... मेरे पास है!

Husband Ranveer Singh had this cheesy line to share along with a picture of himself, the real Deepika and a fairly life-like facsimile thereof.

Desi superhero

At the unveiling of her statue, she revealed that she is looking forward to Avengers Endgame. She added that the world was ready for an Indian superhero; an Indian avenger. Also very significantly, she said that she was herself up to the challenge. “I believe it will happen soon. I know it will," she was quoted as having said.

Loved the idea

A lot of fans loved the idea of an Indian superhero in an Avengers movie. However others thought it was just so much pie in the sky; wishful thinking on part of Bollywood stars simply because Marvel movies have become such a big deal recently.

Some already had the idea

There are a lot of people out there who are fans of Deepika Padukone as well as the Avengers. It did not take long for the idea to take flight.

This suggestion

This commentator not only thought it was a good idea, he also had a backstory idea /suggestion about some temple lady with divine powers. After all, Thor is also a god!

This objection

We’re pretty sure that Deepika was offering her own services as an Avenger; not that of her husband; but one Twitter user felt the need to point this out.

Technical objection

Stan Lee and the others who helped create the Marvel universe kind of forgot to create an Indian superhero, this Twitter user points out.

Pointing avengers in the right direction

This tweet went out to the official Avengers Twitter handle; to indicate that Padukone is one Indian star who has very much arrived on the international stage. The Vogue cover where she appears with another Avenger, Scarlett Johansson was presented as proof of this.

Padukone has already worked in a major Hollywood production, the action film XXX: Return of Xander Cage with Vin Diesel. Maybe the broad hint she dropped will find an echo somewhere in Hollywood? It would certainly be interesting to have a caped crusader of some sort with an Indian face!
