She may be one of Bollywood’s most beautiful and glamorous people; but these days it is pictures of Deepika Padukone in an uncharacteristically de-glam look that are going viral. She sports this plain, almost drab new look for a film project by award winning Iranian filmmaker, Majid Majidi. Here are some of those pictures and what you wanted to know about Majidi.

Wearing the plainest of clothes, sans makeup and with her hair all unkempt, this is a different Deepika from the one we are used to seeing on celluloid and on the slippery pages of fashion magazines.
This is what the hoi polloi is used to seeing, so obviously the other came as something of a shock.
The drab clothes and the makeup-less look may be unusual – many thought that she was unrecognizable in her drab avatar, but there is no hiding those expressive eyes or the stunning natural beauty of that face or that smile.
Deepika Padukone’s other recent non-Bollywood project, xXx: The Return of Xander Cage where she is the lead opposite Vin Diesel is certainly a huge contrast.
The award winning Iranian filmmaker is a director, producer, scriptwriter and actor. In 1998 his film, Children Of Heaven was nominated for the Oscar in the best foreign language film category.
For his film Muhammad: Messenger of God, Majidi had turned to A R Rahman, who composed the film’s score. The maestro composed and recorded across five countries and mixed the music for the film in Chennai.
Majid Majidi is working on his project Kashmir Afloat currently, for which Deepika Padukone plays the role of a dhobin or washerwoman.
The movie has been in the pipeline for a while. Right now in the shooting stages, there still some time to go for the release of Kashmir Afloat.
