Cruella, Mainstream, Loki and Other New Trailers You May Have Missed

Trailers are a great way to hook the interest, and whet the appetite of the film/ TV consuming audience. Though they may not accurately tell us how good or bad the actual feature is going to be, they do tell us about the genre, story, actors etc. Here are some interesting recent trailers/teaser if you’ve missed them: Cruella, Mainstream, Those Who Wish Me Dead, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Loki:

Cruella

Cruella is the villain from The Hundred and One Dalmatians (seen in animation and live-action versions) and this film is sort of an origin film. The story is set in the 1970s punk rock revolution of London, when Cruella played by Emma Stone, is making her mark as an haute couture designer. The story follows the adventures of Cruella as she joins a couple of thieves and then befriends Baroness von Hellman. It tells us how she turns into the dog-hating villainess that Glenn Close played with such élan in earlier films. Cruella releases on Disney Hotstar as well as in theatres on 28 May 2021.

Mainstream

Starring Andrew Garfield,  Maya Hawke, Nat Wolff and others, this is a comedy-drama that satirizes social media stardom. The story is about two internet personalities who are admittedly ‘no one special’; who find that there are unexpected and unwelcome downsides of fame and celebrity. While the movie already premiered at the Venice Film Festival last year, it gets a theatrical release on 7 May 2021.

Those Who Wish Me Dead

Described as a neo-western survival action thriller film, this one stars Angelina Jolie, Nicholas Hoult, Finn Little and others. The film is a thriller set against the backdrop of a wildfire in the Montana region. It follows the story of a young boy who sees his father being murdered and the veteran fire warden and wilderness expert who takes him under her wing. The movie will release on 14 May 2021.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife

The supernatural comedy-drama is the fourth film of the Ghostbuster franchise (1984, 1989 and a reboot in 2016) and is set 30 years after the 1989 film. The delightful, one-minute teaser shows us Paul Rudd in a supermarket and what proceeds to become a crazy marshmallow-fest. Apart from Rudd, the film stars Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace. Interestingly, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, and Annie Pott will reprise their roles from the 1980s films. The movie will release in November 2021.

Loki

He is the God of Mischief and Thor’s brother. He is smart, powerful, an opportunist, funny, slippery, rarely trustworthy and always unpredictable. The trailer of Loki the series to be aired on Disney+ Hotstar, promises to trace the story of this most interesting and complex of Marvel characters. Tom Hiddleston will play Loki, as in the movies and the series will release with 6 episodes of between 40 and 50 minutes beginning June 11 2021. It took a long time for audiences to get the standalone Loki feature, but now that it’s here, they aren't complaining.
