Chris Evans Will No Longer Be Captain America – Are You Sad?

Chris Evans, the beauteous blond has played Captain America for 8 years. Now that the shooting for Avengers 4 is over, he has announced that he will no longer be playing the iconic Marvel character. I can’t say that I am either gladdened or saddened by the news; mainly because I am completely uninvested in the character I see as rather stuffy and staid. Chris Evans’ character in Fantastic Four I can get behind: funny, and irreverent and cheeky. Captain America takes himself entirely too seriously and is a bit of a stick in the mud. So I don’t really care who plays him...or not. Many do, however!

Emotional Chris Evans

8 years is a long time, and the Avengers franchise is iconic; with devoted followers all over the world. Small wonder then, that the man was emotional and honored and grateful about the end of Chris Evans as Captain America.

“Always be cap to me”

Now many of us will remember a lot of actors playing superman over the years; from the days of Christopher Reeve to Henry Cavil. But for a lot of people, Chris Evans has always been Captain America. The two are inextricably linked in the minds of current fans.

Awww!

Ryan Reynolds (who plays Deadpool for Marvel and has in the past been Green Lantern for DC), seemed to be really cut up about it all. All I can say is… really?

Pathetic?

A bit, but who am I to judge! People not wanting to see anyone else as Cap America is a little bit like me never wanting to see elaichi in mithai. Fans are entitled to their fanaticism. It’s all harmless. Most of the time. So long as the fans don’t come to blows over their affiliations.

Soul of the Captain

Many were deeply sad and said that they were going to really miss Evans specifically as Captain America.

The Rock's tweet

This has been an ‘iconic character’ says Dwayne Johnson in his tweet. Yeah yeah yeah.

People are really sad

They are all emotional and weepy and sad about the departure of Captain America. But objectively now – is captain America even cool? Just look at that absurd helmet-cum-mask. (also don’t kill me).

It’s pretty extreme

Some are weeping, others are in shock. For this twitter user, it’s like a bad breakup she didn’t see coming.

No chance of a resurrection?

It would seem that there will no longer be a Captain America. It isn’t just that Evans will no longer play the character but the fact that they're going to kill off the character in the movie. I am reliably informed by the Marvel fans in my home that the chance of Captain's resurrection is negligible to none.

Hopeful much?

Either this guy sets a lot of store by Chris Evan’s abilities or he feels that anyone would be a better president than the current one. “He’s not Trump, he has my vote.” Said another tweet. But then most sane people feel that way.
