Check out the #BestMovieLineEver Twitter Trend & See if You Agree

You know how kitne aadmi they or mere paas maa hai are absolute cult classic lines? Well, movies are littered with such classic lines that just make a scene and then become the stuff of movie lore. People quote these lines and they become the joy of a thousand mimics; cultural reference points of a generation. The #BestMovieLineEver was perhaps a trend waiting to happen and Twitter latched on to it quite enthusiastically:

“This town needs an enema”

Sure Health Ledger’s Joker saying why so serious is a cult classic, but Jack Nicholson’s Joker saying this is somehow funnier and paradoxically more sinister as well.

Poetry, Beauty, Romance, Love.

These are what we stay alive for. Who can forget Robin Williams in Dead Poet's Society changing the lives and minds of so many little boys with literature.

The call of the rebel

Mel Gibson saying this in Braveheart is iconic, but not new. Our freedom fighters said much the same several decades before.

Frankly my dear…

The suave, urbane Clark Gable saying this in Gone with the Wind has to count as one of the best exit lines ever.

Life is a gift

This is Leo di Caprio’s Jack expounding his rough-hewn philosophy as he rubs shoulders with the well-heeled in Titanic. It’s probably the moment Rose fell even more in love… you can tell!

“I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse”

If there is a Hollywood equivalent of kitne aadmi they, it would be this line from Marlon Brando in The Godfather.

“'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya, punk?"

Clint Eastwood, pointing the gun in Dirty Harry – just like Gabbar Singh saying teeno bach gaye, laughing hysterically and proceeding to blow out a few brains.

I am Iron Man

When he says this in the end of Avengers Endgame it just about breaks your heart.

"Fear holds you prisoner, hope sets you free"

This line from the all-time great, Shawshank Redemption works at so many levels – the literal and the philosophical. This movie is littered with classics such as Get busy livin or get busy dyin, and so many others.

Liam Neeson in Taken

The story of a father’s quest to save his daughter from kidnappers isn’t as famous as this line; which has become a meme-maker’s delight.

"In case I don't see ya…

This line spoken by Jim Carrey in The Truman Show encompasses humour, fatalism, and a certain amount of tragedy.

Casablanca

An absolute classic of a film; littered with classics such as this one by Humphrey Bogart. He also memorably says here’s lookin’ at you kid to Ingrid Bergman and the heartbreaking… We’ll always have Paris.

Motivation!

That’s the Wolf of Wall Street pithily and not very politely telling people the secret of success.

Silence of the Lambs

Anthony Hopkins in this movie is absolutely spine-chilling. When he says this to Jodie Foster, almost gently, it feels the more eerie for it.

Into the Spiderverse

For a superhero film, this was a particularly complex story. As an animation film it was unusually layered as this line indicates.

When Harry Met Sally

Cheesy? Well maybe, but if you're a romantic, this just warms the cockles of your heart. This Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan starrer is a love story, so a little bit cheesy is allowed.
