It’s cold in North India right now. In western Indian cities such as Mumbai they think it is cold. In our own ways we are all coping with winter or the lack thereof where we are. We are either reeling under the onslaught of the cold or are enjoying the few days of not-hot weather of the year.
Those of us in the north are literally freezing our butts. When we are forced to emerge from the warm cocoon of our quilts, we complain long and strenuously.
Not only are the temperatures plummeting, Delhi woke up to a pea souper of a fog this morning.
Flight delays, accidents and all the other attendant problems of foggy weather will now make the headlines… now it seems like Delhi winter!
Its England that is supposed to have that cold, dank, damp, dismal winter, not India!
Delhiites have two separate wardrobes for summer and winter…because survival. On the other hand, Mumbaikars find it hard to make use of the woolens they posses. They will be seen swaddled in shawls, jackets and monkey caps as soon as the mercury dips below 20 C.
If a lizard falls on the head; that is lucky, apparently. So is glass breaking and smoke blowing one’s way from a bon fire! Because if there is an unpleasant experience, we Indians find ways to give it a positive twist.
These two elegant canines and their smart sartorial choices have become quite viral! After all if you have to battle the cold, why not do it as smartly as possible!
This is the likely experience of most of us who buy stuff online. The way things look on the models and the way they look on the common or garden variety of online shopper are very different indeed.
The prospect of talking off all those warm layers that ensconce the body to get wet… bathing in this weather just doesn’t seem worth the pain and the effort!
Some of us love winter – that time of year when the sun is beautiful, and the outdoors are welcoming and balmy.
When we do pluck up the courage to have that bath, we feel unable to exit the bathroom without having used up every drop of hot water available.
Some of us may suggest Kashmir or Shimla – because you know, the romance of snow! Others among us do not want to emerge from that warm quilt... until March.
