I've always admired Shah Rukh Khan the person far more than SRK the superstar. I am rather less enamoured of his acting skills and more impressed by his natural charm, obvious intelligence, canny business sense and humour. This is what comes across in any media interaction. This was also obvious recently when he fielded questions directly from fans on an AMA on Twitter. The fact that #AskSRK was trending worldwide is a testament to the man’s remarkable fan following.
It was an ask-me-anything session – he had 15 minutes to spare so #AskSRK got the ball rolling.
We may not see a lot of movie releases these days, but the SRK craze is alive and well, as this tattoo proves. In reply, SRK quipped that he couldn’t get rid of his beard now, in view of this tattoo.
Another fan tweeted images of her own sketches. The reply was appreciative.
Children should be loved and allowed to make their own mistakes, says the man.
One tweet asked about the year of the photo. ‘From the dinosaur age I assume’ came the reply.
People wanted to know about upcoming releases. Announcements are for airports and railway stations my friend....movies ki hawa toh khud ban jaati hai....., said the reply tweet.
Read and play board games with the family on days when you're bored – good advice. It’s fun bonding time and makes you use your brain.
We shall overcome, was the answer.
When asked for tips to ‘get’ a girl, this was the reply: use better language and try some respect and gentleness.
Someone decided to be funny/rude/smart by asking a question about underwear – and received this ‘classy’ reply. The tweet was deleted, but the internet never forgets, as this screenshot indicates.
Of course people had this question about KKR and SRK replied with ‘I hope so. I want to start drinking coffee in that only!”
Apparently, SRK has a lot of favourites: Raakh QSQT Dangal Lagaan 3 Idiots.
Everyone wanted to know about Don 3 – if yes, then when?
One of the reasons SRK has this huge fan following is his people skills. He comes across as interested, approachable and relatable; not common in someone with his level of fame. Small wonder then that #AskSRK was trending worldwide.
