The first ever Academy Awards were held in 1929 at a private dinner party for 270 people. The first ever Oscars to be televised was in 1953.
The Story of the Oscar Statue
The model for the famous Oscar award statue is rumored to be Mexican actor Emilio Fernandez. Though, initially the famous Oscar award statues were made using gold plated solid bronze, during the World War II they were made from painter’s plaster. These were later on replaced with the current statues made using gold-plated Britannium.
The Youngest Winner Ever
Tatum O’Neal is the youngest Oscar winner. At only 10 years of age, she won Best Supporting Actress for “Paper Moon” (1973).
The Oldest Winner
Christopher Plummer is the oldest person to win an Oscar at the age of 82. He won in the category of Best Supporting Actor for “Beginners” (2011).
