When you are dating someone much older than you, it isn’t a bad thing but it surely leads to some very specific issues. I mean we all want a mature and understanding partner, but sometimes things get little weird.
1. Birthdays often gets weird.
For the obvious reasons, the age number clash always makes the older person crazy. Mostly they don’t want to celebrate their birthday and even if you throw them a party you worry they won’t like it.
2. You worry about appearing childish.
The older person in the relationship has had more time to get set in their ways, and you will obviously seem to behave in a way they used to when they were younger. It is only natural and the younger person shouldn’t try to be anything they aren’t.
3. They may be older & wiser but you’re not stupid either
The important decisions are often made by them because they are older than you and have more experience however if you have a point you want to make then you should make it. Don’t worry about sounding clueless because they love you despite your age.
4. Hanging out with friends can prove to be difficult
The friends circles match the age group obviously. So going out with friends is usually just one person adjusting to the others group. If is very difficult to get both sets of friends to mingle.
5. They try to tell you what to do
This may seem like the older person is trying to change you, but they are probably just trying to show you the easier, better or more efficient way of doing something. If you don’t let it bother you too much it will seem harmless enough.
6. You have to explain the lingo sometimes
The slangs vary with generations and while mostly people stay updated, sometimes you do have to explain the meanings of words that kind of ruin the fun of the whole thing. Who cares though, right?
7. The old movies they like
It’s a little irritating how they talk about films made in the 70s and 80s, and even get shocked when you say you haven’t even heard of some of the films. But them they probably don’t know Avici or Major Lazer so you’re kind of even there.
