7 Lesser Known People In India Who Are No Less Than A Celebrity

We are a nation obsessed with its celebs but amidst the paparazzi are a few lesser known personalities, no less than a celebrity themselves. Doing a great work in their respective fields, these individuals have carved out a special entity for themselves but are still a lesser known face. These seven personalities on our list deserve every bit of crowd adulation as the other celebs get:

Pamela and Anil Malhotra

These people are behind converting a barren land into 300 acres of man-made wild life sanctuary in India, which is the proud recipient of the “Wildlife and Tourism Initiative of the Year” and currently hosts wide animals like Asian Elephants, Sambhar and Bengal Tiger.

Arunima Sinha

A fatal accident in train left Arunima with a prosthetic leg and a scar for life, but in her urge to fight back, she decided to mount the great Everest. Her determination paid off after 52 days when in 2013, she finally scaled the Everest.

Charles Correa

He is a world famous contemporary architect, awarded the Padma Shri, 1972 and the Padma Vibhusan, 2006. He is the man behind Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalaya Ahmedabad, Jawahar Kala Kendra in Jaipur, Brain Science Center at MIT, Boston and the Champalimaud Centre in Lisbon. He is also the man behind Mumbai’s satellite suburb Navi Mumbai.

Tessy Thomas

The Missile Woman of India as she is widely known is a Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) scientist behind the Agni-V and was also the Agni-V project head. She is the member of the IIT council and has also won the prestigious Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award for her role in missile technology.

Palak Muchhal

Although we know Palak quite well as a playback singer, we don’t know her social work side, well. Surprisingly, Palak is a part of Guinness Book of World Records as well as the Limca Book of World Records for her contribution towards the society. She started doing charity events right from the Kargil war, when she was all of 7 year old and raised money for family of the deceased soldiers. Palak Muchhal Heart Foundation raised around ₹1.71 crores from the 1,460 charity shows that this 24 year old lady has done across the world and has so far helped 338 children. Inspiring isn’t it!

Sarathbabu Elumalai

Sarathbabu is an alumni of IIT and IIM but instead of going with the same old way of getting a six figure salary job, he chose a life of struggle and dedication. His company is now eyeing a turnover of Rs. 20 crores. The entrepreneur in him believes to give back to the poor and hence he is creating jobs for thousands of people.

Sindhutai Sapkal

Sindhutai had to face the wrath of a wrong marriage and soon after coming face to face with poverty and hundreds of orphaned children, she decided to adopt them all and give them a fair chance of life. Today, most of her children are successful in life and Sindhutai is hailed as the 'Mother of Orphans'.

These lesser known people do instil our faith in determination and hard work and we wish to see them prosper more in their life and be popular with the masses.
