We have seen a lot of Bollywood remakes of some great Hollywood films. To flip the coin, there are some phenomenal Bollywood films which should definitely be considered by Hollywood for a remake. Here is a list of suggestions from us:
Hera Pheri
Hera Pheri was an epic comedy riot starring Paresh Rawal, Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty. There has been no other film with such an original comic script and we would love to watch a Hollywood remake of this hilarious film. Though the screenplay will have to find some sort of a close fit to Babu Bhaiya’s craziness.
Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron
Directed by Kundan Shah, this movie is an iconic, timeless and classic comedy film and it would be a delight to watch how Hollywood recreates the humor, specially the Mahabharat scene. Maybe they could do a Romeo Juliet dying scene.
Kahani
Kahaani was definitely an edge of the seat thriller which depicts the story of a pregnant wife searching for her lost husband in the busy streets of Kolkata. Hollywood has many nail biting thrillers as well, but if we were to replace Vidya with a blonde Jennifer, how would the story play out then?
Udaan
The story of a teenager who is pressurized by his selfish father to give up his dreams, something which happens a lot in India. Recreating this movie will actually be very interesting if based in the ghetto’s of New York.
Saraansh
Anupam Kher’s debut film which won him a National Award for his well acclaimed role of a grief stricken father. We don’t think Hollywood can ever recreate this magic. But they could try.
The Lunchbox
Does America have any Dabbawala’s? Probably not, so again the scriptwriters will have to find some way to get across their notes to each other. But it truly would make for an awesome Hollywood movie. Very Nicholas Sparks.
