Holi officially marks the end of winters and the beginning of the new season. Celebrated with gulaal and bhaang, it’s a favourite among children and grown ups alike. But there are few things that one should definitely keep in mind while playing Holi. So, with Holi just around the corner, here are 5 precautions you should keep in mind before celebrating this colourful festival.

Water balloons can hurt

Throw them gently

While throwing water balloons at friends and strangers alike is a common ritual on Holi, one needs to keep in mind that these balloons can actually hurt a lot. So, while you should definitely throw your fair share, make sure you do so gently.

Avoid putting colour near eyes

Keep your eyes safe

While you put some Gulaal all over your friend’s face, make it a point that you stay clear of his/her eyes. Likewise, you need to make sure that no on puts any colours near your eyes as well.

Keep your cellphones away

Avoid those Holi selfies

Until and unless your smartphone is 100% waterproof, you should make it a point of leaving it at your house before you go out to play Holi.

Avoid running/jumping on wet floors

As this is a day when there will be water scattered everywhere, you should make it a point of not running or jumping anywhere. Wet floors will be aplenty and running on them might lead to a few fractures here and there.

Be considerate of street animals

And last, but definitely not the least, be considerate of street animals. Be it dogs, cats or cows, make it a point that you, or anyone else with you, do not throw colours or water on them. Unlike yourself, street animals won’t be taking baths after you play Holi with them and the lingering colours can cause damage to their skin.
