2.0 Trailer – Those Who Loved It and Those Who Just Didn’t

Rajinikanth has legions of fans; for whom he can do no wrong. There was a lot of gushing and oohing and aahing over the teaser trailer of 2.0; we now have the official trailer of the film out. While some reactions were predictably positive, other reactions to the Rajini and Akshay Kumar starrer film were rather less than enthusiastic:

The trailer of the film released recently at a launch ceremony. At the event, Rajini himself spoke about the budget of the film which is made at the cost of about Rs 600 crores and also predicted that the film will be a super hit.

This film marks the debut of Akshay Kumar in Tamil films. Here he is at the trailer launch, trying and tripping over some unfamiliar Tamil words.

Appreciation

A lot of fans seemed delighted with the trailer and thought that the VFX were of a very high quality; anticipating watching the movie in 3D when it releases on 29th November.

It’s a Rajini film

The precursor to 2.0, was Robot (Enthiran in Tamil) was big hit and Rajini fans expect no less from this, the sequel.

Raising the bar

Audiences are expecting an impressive and riveting movie featuring state of the art filmmaking techniques, animation and special effects.  The trailer seems to have satisfied those expectations at least partly.

Reality and expectation

People who had enjoyed the teaser trailer seemed to have high hopes from the trailer as well. Some were satisfied with trailer; others were disappointed.

Not sure if this is a compliment

So is this person so amazed and delighted with the trailer that they feel the need to clean out their eyes with a toilet cleaner or are the reasons less flattering?

Tacky?

Many on Twitter felt that the trailer was rather poor in terms of the slickness and quality of the VFX. While some felt that the trailer appeared to be fan made rather than created by the actual filmmakers, others felt that it all looked rather like a video game.

Comparisons

Since trailers of both 2.0 and Zero dropped on the same day, fans of Thalaivar came in direct conflict SRK fans. So which film will steal the show at the box office? We’ll know in a couple of months.
