People were rooting for the Mumbai team – in recent times it has appeared to be the strongest and best-led team in the IPL.

MI made 200

Mumbai made 200 runs while losing 5 wickets. That is a very big total by any standard.

DC did not fare well

In reply, DC could only muster up 143 for 8 in their 20 overs. They lost quite comprehensively.

Incentives?

Owned by the Ambanis, MI is thought to be the richest team – no expense spared there.

Captain's knock? Not

Rohit Sharma departed without scoring in this vital match. However, opener Quinton de Kock (40), Suryakumar Yadav (51), Ishan Kishan (55) and Hardik Pandya (37*) ensured a big total.

Meanwhile DC

It was a disastrous start with the first three batsmen departing without scoring. Marcus Stoinis (65) and Axar Patel (42) were the only batsmen who seemed able to withstand the onslaught.

The bowlers

Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the MI bowlers. He finished off with four wickets conceding just 3.5 per over.

#RCBvSRH was the second playoff

As the perpetual star (under) performer team of the competition, fans were not very hopeful.

de Villiers to the rescue – again

RCB made a modest 131/7. AB de Villiers top scored with 56 and Aaron Finch was the second highest scorer with 32.

RCB lost

SRH overtook the total in the 20th over; losing only four wickets. Kane Williamson’s knock of 50* was the pick of the innings. He was also man of the match.

Action replay

RCB’s consistently below par performance is something of a habit. As with all previous IPLs, this year was also not their year.

Some predicted a DC loss. However DC’s total of 189/3 proved more than SRH could hope to achieve.

DC prevailed

In spite of Williamson’s valiant 67, SRH managed only 172 for 8.

DC through to the finals

DC fans were delighted that DC is through to the final in spite of losing to MI in the first playoff match.
