On day 25 of the tenth edition of the Indian Premier League, we saw one very high scoring match and one very low scoring one. We saw a superb century and a very one-sided match as well. Take a look at the highlights of double header Sunday: Match no 36 was a clash between Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Daredevils. Match no 37 featured Sunrisers Hyderabad versus Kolkata Knight Riders.
It was Karun Nair helming the Delhi Daredevils team and not Zaheer Khan for match no 36. The Punjab team had the benefit of the home ground and they also won the toss to put Delhi in to bat first. It was a dismal batting performance from DD. They were all out for just 67 in 17.1 overs. It is telling that only three batsmen got into double figures and the highest scorer was Corey Anderson who scored just 18 (off 25).
It seemed all too easy for the Punjab openers: Martin Guptill (50 off 27) and Hashim Amla (16 off 20) steered their team to an easy win with 73 balls to spare.
The Perfect Catch of the Match award recipient was Sandeep Sharma. The award for the Maximum Sixes went to Martin Guptill, as did the award for the Stylish Player of the Match. The Player of the Match was Sandeep Sharma of KXIP for his 4 wicket haul.
Winning the toss, KKR asked the home team SRH to bat first. Skipper David Warner was in incredible form and he scored 126 off just 59 balls (s/r of 213). Shikhar Dhawan (29 off 30) and Kane Williamson (40 off 25) were the other significant contributors to the formidable 209 total, losing just 3 wickets.
Opener Sunil Narine departed early and Gautam Gambhir also wasn’t able to make much of a contribution. In spite of the valiant efforts of Robin Uthappa (53 off 28) and Manish Pandey (39 off 29) the visitors slumped to a 48 run defeat.
The Perfect Catch of the Match award went to Rashid Khan. The award for the Maximum Sixes went to Warner for his 8 sixes. Kane Williamson was named Stylish Player of the Match. Predictably, skipper David Warner was also declared Player of the Match.
