The IPL may have been abandoned but more is other ‘bat-ball’ for the cricket fan to watch. There’s always something on for those who feel there is no such thing as too much cricket. India’s tour of Sri Lanka is underway. So far, the visiting men in blue have defeated the other team of men in blue in both matches. Here’s what has gone on in the two ODIs of the India-Sri Lanka series:
In the first one day international, the home team won and decided to bat first, losing nine wickets and setting India a 263 run target.
The Indian batsmen made short work of the target.
Skipper Shikhar Dhawan led from the front to top-score with 86 off 95.
Prithvi Shaw was adjudged man of the match for his blistering opening knock of 43 off just 24 balls.
Ishan Kishan made his debut in the first ODI and made 59 off just 42 balls.
The Indian batsmen got there with 7 wickets and 80 balls left
The Sri Lankan batsmen were clearly outclassed by the Indian batsmen.
Again winning the loss, the Sri Lankans decided to bat. They made 275 losing 9 wickets.
Deepak Chahar was man of the match for his amazing all round performance.
Perhaps smarting from the rout in the first ODI, the Lankans seemed to have done their homework and managed to tackle the top order.
But this guy came out-of-syllabus.
This is not what the Lankans expected from batsman number 7.
Chahar managed to frustrate the bowlers by remaining not out in spite of their best efforts.
He remained not out till the end with his 69; the highest scorer of the match. He was declared player of the match for his two wickets and top score.
Indian cricket fans are cheering for the feisty new finds as well as the fact that Rahul Dravid has taken over duties as head coach.
