Mirzya Song Release Proves This Will Be One to Watch Out For

The much awaited upcoming Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra movie Mirzya released a spectacular new song yesterday. The new Mirzya song is a treat! Listen in to the song below, scroll down to watch the trailer of Mirzya and know about a few more reasons to go watch Mirzya when it releases on 7th October 2016.

Spectacular song

Composed by the incredibly talented trio of Shankar Ehsaan Loy the title track of Mirzya is penned by Gulzar and lustily rendered by Daler Mehndi, Akhtar Chinnal, Sain Zahoor and the Nooran Sisters. The folkish feel, the earthy voices and punchy percussions will ensure that this song is going to be on repeat on a lot of playlists.

New pair

The movie features the new pair of Harshvardhan Kapoor (Anil Kapoor's son) and Saiyami Kher.  Him in the ancient horse-riding-top-knot-sporting avatar and she in her dual modern-ancient avatar both appear very interesting indeed.

The story of Mirza Sahibaan

We have all heard about the tragic old legends of Heer Ranjha, Sheerin Farhad, Soni Mahiwal. The story of Mirza Sahibaan is one such but lesser known stories of Punjabi folklore which Mirzya features. It is the tragic story of star crossed lovers doomed to die before the reliasation of their love.

It’s a Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra movie

His is an impressive track record: Rang de Basanti, Delhi 6, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. I aim to watch everything the man makes. If he is making one of folklore's lesser known legends, and believes that this is a story that needs to be told I am more than interested.

Parallel modern ancient stories

The movie appears to feature modern and old story lines that run parallel to each other. The trailer hints at a modern story about little kids going to school, parting at some point and meeting again when and grown up as well as an  older story about what presumably is the story about the original Mirza Sahibaan.

Mirzya trailer

The Mirzya trailer promises a passionate, well told love story that juxtaposes the old and the new. The story's treatment by Mehra, the music and the new pair are bound to be something to watch out for.
