We have a young widow who cannot seem to grieve in Sanya Malhotra’s Pagglait. In Chehre we see a bunch of strange old men, one of whom is Amitabh Bachchan with his beard in a ponytail. The promise of watching some non-formulaic content has me interested as it does many others as well. Check out the trailers of Pagglait and Chehre and some of the reactions as well:
The comedy-drama film movie stars Sanya Malhotra (Dangal, Badhai Ho, Ludo) as a woman widowed months after her marriage. Other principal characters are played by Shruti Sharma, Ashutosh Rana and Raghubir Yadav. The movie releases on Netflix on 27 March 2021.
The Bollywood widow is always presented as shorn of all happiness, laughter and life. This is not that widow. It should be interesting to see what the makers of Lootera, Lunch Box, Masaan who now bring us Pagglait, come up with.
The film’s music is composed by Arijit Singh. This is the first time the singer has donned a composer’s hat.
More than the trailer, people have reacted positively to the music of the movie. The popularity of Singh as a singer means that his efforts as a composer have also received positive reactions.
The movie stars Amitabh Bachchan as a lawyer and Emraan Hashmi as a businessman. Also in the film are Krystle D'Souza, Rhea Chakraborty, Siddhanth Kapoor, Annu Kapoor, Dhritiman Chatterjee and Raghubir Yadav.
The movie was to release in July last year, but will now release on 9 April, 2021. People are looking forward to the film which seems to be about a mock trial conducted by a group of men against a businessman.
The film seems to have an unusual story line and promises some amount of plot twists and suspense.
The movie also stars Rhea Chakraborty, who has undergone a trial by media and a character assassination based purely on hearsay following the death of Sushant Singh Rajput. As such there are many calling for a boycott of the film.
Some have seen the media outrage against Chakraborty as nothing but a witch hunt and hope she can make a new beginning by way of this film release.
Some people thought that the movie seems to bear a resemblance to the mystery film Knives Out. However, according to reports, the movie is based on a play called Wrong Turn, written by Ranjit Kapoor, which in turn is inspired by a German play, Breakdown.
