How To Travel With Technology, Like A Boss

Traveling today without technology is really not possible. Even though most of us want to leave behind our laptops and forget all about work, we still have other gadgets and devices that we need to carry along. From smartphones, to DSLR cameras, to Kindles, there are so many of them to tag along. So, how does one keep them secure and make the most of them? Here's how to get started.

1. Travel charger

Most of us carry a travel charger that helps charge the smartphone and other gadgets. However, the most important thing to keep in mind is that the voltage differs from country to country. You should know that the standard for electricity followed in Asia might not be the same in Europe or America.

2. WiFi sharing

You really don't think much when your relatives or neighbours ask for your WiFi password. Possibly, because you are subscribed to an unlimited Internet package. However, you should avoid using open WiFis when travelling, as you don’t know what snoopers are on the same network as you. You should avoid using unreliable WiFi networks, as it may sometime leak your personal details as well.

3. Emails

Scanning through the mailbox quickly while travelling is a very common thing and often one clicks on a mail more out of curiosity rather than necessity. One of the smart things to do is never open an attachment or link from an unknown email id. It can lead to a virus attack and data hack.

4. Not backing up things

When you are on vacation, you are so excited that you forget backing up all your previous data. The worst thing that can happen is that you lose all your data cause your SD card gets corrupt. So, it is always best to backup all your data before going on a holiday. If you want to store your photos, then use iCloud and Dropbox. They will take care of any shots you take on your phone automatically.

5. Forgetting the adapter

Nothing can be worse than forgetting your adapter! These days you can pick up adaptors pretty easily at an airport or travel shop. However, before you head to a new country, you should always check first if you really require one.

6. Placing your tech in your carry-on luggage

Placing your tech in your check-in luggage is the biggest travel mistake you make every time. It’s important to keep your tech in a handheld cabin bag that can go with you on the plane. Along with your electronic gadgets, you should always keep other important things like a debit card, passport and cash in your purse.
