10 Talented Bollywood Celebs Who Hold An Engineering Degree

Kartik Aaryan

The talented actor who made his debut in 2011 with Pyaar Ka Punchnama, was born and raised in Gwalior, later he relocated to Navi Mumbai to pursue an engineering degree in Biotechnology from D Y Patil College of Engineering. He was interested (secretly) in Bollywood even during his college days and made several attempts to get into modelling and auditioning for films side by side. Finally after three years of struggle, he got an opportunity to do Pyaar Ka Punchnama, which was directed by Luv Ranjan and co-starred Nushrat Bharucha.

Sushant Singh Rajput

He studied Mechanical Engineering from Delhi College of Engineering and also secured rank 7 at the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) in 2003. However, he studied only for 3 years and dropped out to pursue his acting career.

Ameesha Patel

She studied Bio-genetic engineering for almost two years and then switched to Economics at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. She started her career by working as an economic analyst at Khandwala Securities Limited. After returning to India, she joined Satyadev Dubey's theatre group and started acting in plays. From there, she moved on to modelling and acting in movies.

Kriti Sanon

This beautiful actress was born and raised in New Delhi. She attended Delhi Public School, RK Puram and completed her BTech degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, from Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, Noida, Uttar Pradesh. After completing her engineering she worked as a model and made her acting debut in 2014 with Sukumar's Telugu film Nenokkadine.

Vicky Kaushal

The Bollywood actor who is popularly known for his amazing performances such as Deepak in Maasan, Raghav Singh in Raman Raghav 2.0, Iqbal Syed in Raazi and Kamlesh in Sanju, holds an engineering degree in Electronics and Telecommunications from Mumbai's Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology. 

Taapsee Pannu

Bollywood actress who is known for her critically and commercially successful film Baby and Pink, did her schooling from Mata Jai Kaur Public School in Ashok Vihar, Delhi. Later, she went on to become a computer engineer from the Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology in New Delhi. Post completing her studies, she worked in a company and as well as a part time model. After getting selected for Channel V's talent show Get Gorgeous, she decided to pursue a career in acting.

R. Madhavan

He is popularly known for his roles in movies such as Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, 3 Idiots and Khadoos Saala. He got his Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics from Rajaram College, Kolhapur.

Sonu Sood

Sonu Sood, who recently appeared in an International project Kung Fu Yoga, with Jackie Chan, got his Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics Engineering from Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering, Nagpur. But, he moved to acting soon after his graduation and established himself as one of the most prominent actors in the industry.

Shankar Mahadevan

The famous composer and playback singer, who has won National Award four times, is a graduate in Computer Science and Software Engineering from the Ramrao Adik Institute of Technology, Navi Mumbai. He used to work as a software engineer for Leading Edge Systems and later left his job and ventured into the Music world.

Akkineni Nagarjuna

This famous Indian actor is mainly known for his work in Telugu cinema and has also appeared in a few Bollywood and Tamil films. He completed his Bachelor of Engineering from the College of Engineering, Guindy and M.S. in Automobile Engineering from Eastern Michigan University. However, he decided to pursue his interest in acting and became successful after his debut in a Telugu movie, Vikram in 1986.
