Virendra Sehwag or Veeru as he has been lovingly called by his fans worldwide really miss him in the field, especially after the ICC T20 World Cup semi-finals. Let’s see why cricket lovers miss him playing for India.

Opponent bowlers have got too cheeky

Blasting the ball

Bowlers from other teams need to be reminded that batsmen don’t need time to adjust to the pitch and wind-speed and whatever else. They blast from the first ball and they keep blasting.

We need to go back to good starts

Six on the first ball

The equivalent of the first impression in cricket, is a good start. If the opener can secure a corpus of runs early on it changes the pace of the game. Veeru did that. He would start scoring high and scoring big from the very first ball.

Other captains need to be kept on tenterhooks

Never know where the ball will fly

When you know someone’s game, it is easy to plan your fielding. But when Veeru was on the pitch, you never knew what he was going to do next. Can’t plan around that!

We need more fearlessness

Triple century in style

The individual scorecard didn’t mean squat to him. He could be three runs away from breaking some record, but he wouldn’t suddenly start playing carefully. Hell no, he would shatter the record or get out trying. This is a capture of the moment when he blasted a 6 to finish his triple century. He was at 395 runs.

The game is getting dull

Fierce fielder as well

Look if it’s on TV we want it to be entertaining. And cricket can get boooorrrring. But when Veeru would suddenly dive sideways to catch a ball while fielding, the whole game would change and get interesting. The spectators at the stadium and at home would go hoarse shouting and we miss that kind of frenzy.
